Short Bio

T.Garrett Eaton

Garrett has been living and working in Vancouver since 2019. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he splits his time between traditional and digital artwork.

In his work, Garrett focuses on still life, often depicting ordinary objects and simple spaces. Working from life is important to his process; the act of careful observation invites viewers to do the same with the paintings themselves: reconsider what we might often overlook in our day-to-day lives. He believes mundane subjects can be catalysts for further exploration, highlighting contradictions between high and low, humor and drama.

Garrett is passionate about communicating practical skills to developing artists and demystifying art-making wherever possible. He firmly believes in art-making as a daily practice- a personally meaningful activity that everyone can take part in. He currently teaches classes in Vancouver at Canvas Method.

When not in the studio, Garrett loves working en plein air and exploring his new home city with fellow artists, gouache sketchbook in hand!
