BODEGÓN

This series mines artifacts of mid-century domestic life to explore concepts of shared memory for fictional pasts. The detritus of one supposed golden age combines with a lineage of another: European genre painting. Reframed in this quasi-baroque setting, familiar man-made objects are rendered unfamiliar, capable of evoking feelings of tension and unease. Gaping tubes and tightly wound cords anthropomorphize otherwise inert subjects.
